Silver-Line Plastics - The First to Employ Fully Computerized PVC Blending
In the early 1980’s, Silver-Line was the first to fully automate the PVC blending process. This ensured, and continues to ensure, a consistent PVC compound, which translates into a consistent, high quality PVC pipe.
Silver-Line Plastics - The First to Employ 3408 Resins in PE Production
In the early 1980’s, Silver-Line was the first to employ a new generation of PE resins - PE 3408 - in pipe production. This represented a radical departure from the resins used in PE production from the 1950’s – 1970’s, and 3408 remained the dominate resin used in the production of PE pipe until recently.
Silver-Line Plastics - The First to Produce PVC-DWV Cellular Core Pipe Using a Co-Extruded Method
Cellular Core pipe has been around for many years in Europe, but they utilized a “Tri” extrusion process, one extruder for the outer skin, one for the inner skin, and a final extruder for the inner core. Silver-Line perfected the “Co-extruded” method in the mid-1980’s, which has become the standard production method for DWV-Cellular core pipe in the US market. As opposed to three extruders, Silver-Line produces Cellular Core with only two extruders. The first extrudes both the inner and outer skins, and the second extrudes the pipe’s inner core.
Today, Silver-Line has further perfected this process by “dual-heading” its Cellular Core lines, meaning that two separate lines of product can be generated off of the same set-up. This ensures the greatest possible efficiencies and quality. “Dual-head” Cellular core lines are specific to Silver-Line.
